Q. Why do I need a permit to cut down my own tree?

  The City of Piney Point Village has a Tree Ordinance protecting trees growing on both, public        and private property.

Q. Do I need a permit to cut down a live tree?

  Yes. Any live tree that measures 3 inches or greater in diameter 4'-5" above grade requires a tree removal permit.

Q. Do I need a permit to remove a dead tree located on my property?

  No. Only live trees require a tree permit.

Q. Do I need a permit to trim a tree?

  No. Branch tree trimming does not require a permit.

Q. How much of the tree can I trim?

  No more than 25% of the crown (leaf area) should be removed at one time and proper pruning    cuts should be made.

Q. Where can I get a tree permit?

  You can call the City of Piney Point Village at (713) 782-0271 Ext 204 to request a tree permit or download the tree permit request application on our website.

Q. Who do I contact to trim tree limbs or remove trees located on or near power lines?

  To request tree trimming or removals, Contact CenterPoint Energy at CenterPoint Customer    Service at (713) 207-2222.

Q. Who do I call when tree branches are obstructing street signs or branches have fallen on the road or sidewalk?

  For small branches call City of Piney Point Village at (713) 782-0271.

Q. Who do I call when large trees or tree branches have fallen on the road?

  For large branches or large trees fallen on the roads, call the Memorial Village Fire Department.
