Community Update 12/31/2024
12/31/2024
Dear Piney Point Village Residents,

As we prepare to ring in the New Year, we’d like to pass on a few reminders to our residents.
Recycling will be picked up on Saturday, January 4, and regular trash services will remain the same in observance of the upcoming New Year's Day holiday.
President Biden has issued an order lowering flags to half-staff until January 29, 2025, in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away. Texas flags should remain half-staff for the same period.
The city is currently in the process of installing standardized new school zone signage to ensure the safety of our students. Some signs are in the final testing phase, which includes intermittent tests of flashing beacons. The goal is to have all signage operational by the start of school in January. The old signage will be removed after the new signs have been installed and finalized.
Please take some time to explore our revamped website, www.cityofpineypoint.com.  Regularly check the “Announcement and News” section for pertinent updates. Remind your family members and neighbors to sign up for “V-LINC” email updates from the Mayor and the Police Chief.  Signup here: https://www.mvpdtx.org/default.aspx?menuitemid=24&menugroup=Public+Home
Two days after I was sworn in as mayor on May 14, the Derecho storm hit us hard, and one month later, we were slammed by Hurricane Beryl, which resulted in a 99% power outage. Despite enduring hardships during and after the two disasters, the heart of Piney Point was evident through your incredible support and care for our excellent police and fire departments, the city, the other Memorial Villages, and neighbors helping each other.
THANK YOU for the honor of leading Piney Point Village -- a shining example of Texas at its finest! I am so proud to be your mayor and will continue to work hard for you and our beautiful community.
On behalf of everyone here at the city, stay safe, and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Sincerely,
Aliza Dutt
Mayor
