Community Update 6/7/2024

Dear Piney Point Village Residents,

School is out and summer vacation has begun! As we prepare for the hot summer months ahead, here is some information and events that may be of interest to you.

MVPD Officer Boggus and I drove through our neighborhood and it appears the vast majority of storm-related debris in Piney Point has been picked up, with some pockets of area still needing attention.  As of June 5, total debris volume for Piney Point Village totals 8,803 cubic yards, equivalent to 177 trailer loads.  Harris County has indicated that it will continue to make the rounds until everything has been picked up.  Thanks for your patience!

Mark your calendars for the “Villages Independence Day Parade'' on July 4 at 10:00am starting at the Memorial Church of Christ on Gaylord and ending at Ecclesia Church on Piney Point Rd. This is one of my favorite community events of the year. It’s a super fun parade with a small-town feel, reflecting the character of our beautiful Memorial Villages. Be sure to bring a chair and line the streets to cheer on our hometown heroes, the MVPD and VFD, as well as U.S., state and local officials, local groups, neighbors and me! My kids love the candy that is passed out too.  Click here for more information or if you’d like to participate.

MVPD will be hosting a “Decades Music Bingo Night” on July 10, 2024, at 6 pm at Chapelwood in the Fellowship Hall. There will be bingo, music, food, drinks, and guaranteed family fun!

If you’d like a “House Watch” by the MVPD while you’re on vacation, visit here

As we enter the Hurricane season, it’s a good time to get prepared. The Village Fire Department has outlined some steps you can take here.

Stay cool, and enjoy your weekend!
