Community Update 5/16/2025
05/16/2025

We hope this email finds you well as many of you enjoy the kids' last few days of school. This year is extra special for our family, as our daughter prepares for high school graduation. As many of you may be able to relate, it’s bittersweet to a certain extent, but we are thrilled for her to start a new, exciting chapter in her college life!

We are delighted to announce a number of new employees to our Piney Point City Staff. Gerson Quevedo will be joining our busy permitting department as Development Manager, a newly created, full-time position to support the permitting department that has seen significant growth in recent years. Gerson will join the group that includes Annette Arriaga, Development Director & Permits/Building Official and a part-time permitting clerk. Many of you may have already met Public Works Manager Frederick Johnson who joined last year. Also, please welcome Celina Rodriguez and Kimberly Gomez who have joined our Municipal Court department.

Earlier this week, we attended a Remembrance Ceremony at the MVPD to honor our heroes for National Police Week. Deep appreciation to the brave men and women of MVPD and all law enforcement who put on their uniforms every day, knowing that they may not return home to their families.

We also hope you are enjoying the American Flags that the City is installing for Memorial Day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The flags will line the streets during the Memorial High School Senior Car Parade, held this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The parade will start at MHS, travel east on Gaylord Dr, continue south on Piney Point Rd, and end near Ecclesia Church. Please be aware of road closures around 9:40 am and join in on the fun!

We encourage you to visit the Piney Point Village website as we focus on enhancing and expanding www.cityofpineypoint.com. You'll discover a variety of helpful features, including an easy-to-use system for submitting requests and an updated permit page, complete with the latest forms and packet information regarding permits.

Please find pictures attached of City Staff working throughout the city and of the MVPD Remembrance Ceremony. We appreciate your support and hope you and your family enjoy these last few weeks of Spring!

Sincerely,
Aliza Dutt
Mayor
Piney Point Village
