Dear Residents,

Please join us in congratulating Brian Croft on his new role as Fire Chief at the Village Fire Department! During his years with the VFD, Chief Croft has served as Fire Marshal, Captain, Driver Operator, Firefighter, and EMT. He holds degrees in Public Service Leadership and Fire Science Technology and is certified in specialized areas, including Master Arson Investigation, Master Peace Officer, Master Inspector, Fire Officer I & II, Instructor I & II, and multiple National Incident Management System courses. Chief Croft is also a U.S. Air Force veteran, and we appreciate his service.

His integral hands-on knowledge in nearly all aspects of the VFD, along with his education, experience, and credentials, make us incredibly excited to have him as our new leader of the Village Fire Department.

We are also pleased to welcome three new members to the City Hall team: Ryan Smith, Public Works Manager; Edinson Mazariegos, Full-Time Laborer; and Theodore Brown, Part-Time Laborer. Their additions to our team will strengthen the Public Works Department’s focus on improving the City’s infrastructure and green spaces.

We hope you've noticed some nice improvements in our green spaces as you enjoy walks around our neighborhood, including a new little library in Carol Tree Park, generously donated by the McDonald family. The City has also undertaken additional cleanup efforts in our local bayous and drainage areas, and has made several road and drainage point repairs throughout the community.

As a friendly reminder, while we are nearing the end of Hurricane Season, it does not officially conclude until November 30. Please ensure that your family has a basic emergency kit and adequate food and water provisions available in case of an emergency. You can find a disaster supply checklist here: (https://texasready.gov/build-a-kit/disaster-supply-checklist.html).

The City is excited to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, October 18, at Ecclesia, and we warmly invite all residents to join us for this wonderful occasion starting at 9:00 AM. Those who arrive early will be given a complimentary tree to plant at home as we continue our efforts to create a greener Piney Point Village. Additionally, mark your calendars for the annual Recycle/Shred event, scheduled for October 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM to noon at the parking lot of Hedwig Village City Hall.

Sincerely,

Aliza Dutt

Mayor
