Dear Piney Point Residents,

We hope you and your families are doing well. I would like to share several important updates and upcoming community events as we continue working together to enhance the quality of life in our City.

Memorial Drive Repaving
We are pleased to report that the Harris County Memorial Drive repaving project is progressing ahead of schedule. We appreciate Commissioner Tom Ramsey’s support on this effort. Work between Voss and Chimney Rock is nearing completion, and construction is expected to reach Piney Point as early as next week, weather permitting. Please note:

• Schedule: Weekdays, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Traffic: Daily lane closures and traffic shifts are expected; no full closures are planned.
• Access: Driveway access will be maintained, with only brief interruptions during active work.
• Safety: Use caution due to loose gravel; MVPD will be actively monitoring the area.
  
  

South Piney Point Beautification
We are excited to begin the next phase of beautification along South Piney Point, south of Arrowwood. Tree planting will begin soon and will include a mix of Cedar Elm, Bald Cypress, and Loblolly Pine, as recommended by the Beautification Committee.

Mulching is currently scheduled for mid-April, though we are working to accelerate this timeline. Additional citywide maintenance efforts are ongoing, including irrigation repairs, trimming, and seasonal plantings.

• Plant & Book Festival (Library):

  March 28 (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

• Rodeo Roundup: April 18 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM). Hosted by the Memorial Villages Police Foundation, featuring food trucks, axe throwing, mechanical bull riding, and more
• July 4th Parade & 250th Anniversary Celebration: Parade begins at 10:00 AM Festival at Ecclesia campus until 1:00 PM.
  After a multi-year hiatus, the community festival returns as a joint effort among the Memorial Villages, featuring food, entertainment, and the traditional fire truck water cool-down. Additional Updates
The City continues to coordinate with Harris County on Memorial Drive signal improvements while maintaining focus on public safety, drainage, and infrastructure throughout the community.
